# Change your email or password

> How to update your login credentials from the Security section.

Your account credentials are managed from **My Panel → Security**.

## Changing your password

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to Security">
    In your panel, click **Security** in the navigation menu.

  <Step title="Fill in the password form">
    Enter your **current password**, then your **new password**, and confirm it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Update password**. You'll see a confirmation message. Your new password is active immediately.

<Tip>
  Use a password that's at least 12 characters long. A random combination of words (e.g. "correct-horse-battery-staple") is both memorable and secure. A password manager (like Bitwarden or 1Password) can generate and store strong passwords for you.

## Changing your email address

Changing your email requires verification of the new address.

    In **Security**, find the email change section. Enter your new email address and click **Request change**.

  <Step title="Verify the new address">
    A verification email is sent to the **new** address. Open it and click the verification link. The link is valid for **60 minutes**.

  <Step title="Confirmation">
    Once verified, your email is updated. A notification is also sent to your **old** email address to alert you of the change.

<Warning>
  If you receive a notification about an email change that you didn't request, contact the catalog administrator immediately — someone may have unauthorized access to your account.

## What your email is used for

Your login email is used for:

* Logging in to your panel
* Receiving contact messages from visitors (if the catalog is configured this way)
* Subscription receipts and payment notifications
* Security notifications (password changes, email changes)

  Your public contact email (shown on your profile page) is a separate field in your profile, not the same as your login email. You can set them to different addresses if you prefer to keep them separate.

## Forgot your password?

If you can't log in, go to `[catalog-address]/login` and click **Forgot password**. Enter your email address and check your inbox for a reset link.
