Health and wellness is one of the most searched professional categories online. People looking for a physiotherapist or psychologist search with high intent — they have a specific problem and need someone nearby. A well-built health directory captures this traffic reliably.

Why this niche works

  • High local search volume — “physiotherapist [city]” is searched thousands of times per month in any mid-sized city
  • Insurance and availability are key filters — visitors need to filter by insurance acceptance, location, and specialty; a good directory provides this where Google doesn’t
  • Professionals are underserved by generic platforms — most health professionals have poor online presence and will pay for a polished, credible listing
  • Reviews drive conversions — a profile with 10 reviews of a physiotherapist converts far better than one without

Example: physiotherapy directory

Entity type: Physiotherapist Custom fields:
  • License / PWZ number (text, required)
  • Accepts insurance (boolean, searchable)
  • Accepts NFZ (boolean, searchable) (Polish national health fund — adapt to your country)
  • Home visits (boolean, searchable)
  • Online sessions (boolean)
  • Booking link (url)
Specializations: Sports injuries, Post-operative rehabilitation, Pediatric physiotherapy, Neurological rehabilitation, Manual therapy, Dry needling, Spine & posture, Pregnancy & postpartum Listing plans:
  • Basic (free) — profile visible, no contact form, lower search ranking
  • Active ($15/mo) — contact form enabled, booking link displayed
  • Pro ($29/mo) — featured placement available, priority ranking, reviews badge

Example: psychologist & psychotherapist directory

Entity type: Psychologist / Psychotherapist (two types) Custom fields:
  • Therapy method (select: CBT / Psychodynamic / EMDR / ACT / Systemic)
  • Works with (select: Adults / Children / Couples / Families)
  • Session format (select: In-person / Online / Both)
  • NFZ / Insurance (boolean)
  • Sliding scale fees (boolean)
Specializations: Anxiety & depression, Trauma & PTSD, Relationship issues, Grief, Eating disorders, ADHD, Career & burnout

Setup tips for health directories

Put location front and center. Most health searches are local. Make sure the city and neighborhood are prominent on every listing card — not buried in the detail page. Searchable boolean fields are your secret weapon. “Accepts insurance: yes/no” and “Home visits: yes/no” are exactly the filters visitors need but can’t find on Google. These fields convert browser visits into real contacts. Enable reviews from day one. Health decisions are trust-heavy. Even 3–4 reviews on a physiotherapist’s profile significantly increase the chance of contact. Encourage listing owners to ask their first clients to review them. Consider a “New to the directory” badge. New listings often look sparse compared to established ones. A temporary “New” badge reduces the trust gap while owners build up their profiles and reviews.
